A Field Director is the chief executive, coordinator, administrator and supervisor for the Church of God in his area of the world. He is responsible for area personnel, budget, leadership development, training, representational work, public relations, fundraising and planning.


 Peter A. Thomas - West, Central, and Eastern Africa

Peter A. Thomas has served as the Regional Superintendent for Central Africa and in addition as C.E. – Director for Church of God Africa, West, Central & Eastern Africa. A native of Germany, he experienced Christ as his Savior at the age of 19 and received a call to Ministry and Missions while attending EBS in Rudersberg. In 1979 he went to Ghana, West Africa teaching at GBI and pastoring the CityChurch in Kumasi. In 1986, after studies at Church of God Seminary in Cleveland he and his family moved to Zimbabwe, where he was appointed to serve as C.E. – Coordinator for Africa. In 1995 he moved to Nairobi, Kenya and continues to serve in this ministry until his present appointment.

Anton van Deventer - Africa: Southern

Anton van Deventer serves as the moderator/general overseer of the Full Gospel Church of God in Southern Africa. He pioneered a church in Pretoria and served as its pastor for 25 years. He was the acting principal of Berea Bible School from 1995-99.

W. Harold McLeod - Asia / Pacific

Harold McLeod was appointed Field Director of Asia/Pacific in 1996. He came to this position from Australia where he served from 1980-96 as a missionary, pastor, church planter, and overseer. McLeod began his ministry as an evangelist in Florida and became a pastor in Mississippi and Georgia. He also pioneered churches in British Columbia and Colorado.

Fedlyn A. Beason - Caribbean

Fedlyn Beason, a native of Clarendon, Jamaica, has served as Field Director of the Caribbean since 1998. Prior to his appointment, he was the overseer of Jamaica and Grand Cayman for eight years. Beason served as a pastor for more than 25 years before he was elected as overseer, and his dynamic radio ministry introduced thousands of people to Jesus Christ. In 1983 he received the Prime Minister’s National Award for community service. Beason has served as a member of the World Missions Board and the International Executive Council.

 Kenneth Anderson - Central America/Mexico/Brazil

Ken Anderson has served World Missions as a missionary pilot, associate missionary and as a Regional Superintendent, all in Central America. Most recently he has served as pastor of River of Life Church of God in Anderson, South Carolina.

He says, “While a senior at Lee University, God began dealing with me about missions. In 1984, after graduation, I began flight school and a strong desire to enter missionary aviation became my long-term goal.”

Dieter Knospe - Europe: Central & Eastern/CIS

Dieter Knospe became Field Director of Europe: Central & Eastern/CIS in 1994. He is a native of Germany and served there as a pastor, evangelist, and editor/publisher from 1961-74. From 1974-94 he was the overseer of Germany and for the last year of his tenure also served as superintendent of the Commonwealth of Independent States (former Soviet Union). He is a former member of the World Missions Board.

Larry Hess - Europe: Western/Mediterranean/Middle East

Larry Hess was appointed field director of Europe: Western/Mediterranean/Middle East at the 2006 General Assembly. Before joining World Missions, he spent 15 years as the international director of ministerial development. He has also served as a state youth and Christian education director, chaplain with the Ministry to the Military in Spain, and as a pastor in Colorado, Florida, Virginia and Louisiana. He is also a published author of three books and has served on numerous church boards and committees.

David Ramirez - South America 

Since August, 2006 David Ramírez has been serving as the Admistrative Bishop of the Church of God South Western Hispanic Region, in California. For the last twenty years he has been a missionary in South America; founder and president of the South American Seminary in Quito, Ecuador (SEMISUD) for fourteen years; and founder and senior pastor of Capilla del Valle Church of God (with a membership of 800).

Knowing his call for the ministry, he decided to study theology and ministry graduating from a B.Th., M.Div, and D.Min. in Advance Leadership and Biblical Preaching as a Beeson Scholar from Asbury Theological Seminary.

He attended HI Institute in 1991 at Singapore. He has trained over 3,000 Christian leaders and graduated over 1,200 (B.A; M.A.) students who are serving in 25 nations around the world.
