Short-Term Missionaries

News

Short-term missionaries are individuals who desire to serve voluntarily from three weeks to four years. They feel compelled to share the Gospel in another culture, but do not desire to make it a lifetime commitment.

The Church of God provides an opportunity and place for such involvement through several programs.

STEP Teams - Each summer STEP takes teams of qualified young people, ages 16 to 24, on 3-week missionary assignments to other countries as well as home missions locations. Each volunteer must raise his/her own funds. Click here for information about trips and leaders of the program.

WEAC - This program provides an opportunity for young people and young adults to spend two weeks or up to two years in missionary training and service at one of the World Evangelism Action Centers located in strategic places of the world. Each volunteer must raise his/her own funds.

Men/Women of Action - This opportunity is for skilled men and women to use their abilities in assisting missionaries with designated projects, such as building a church. MWOA volunteers come in all sizes, shapes, fashions and forms from all walks of life--professionals and laborers, skilled and unskilled. Every one is vital to the success of their team. “Ministry” is more than a pulpit or classroom. It is in the market place of the world where people are hurting and needy. Ministry is where volunteer sacrificial assistance meets the need. Each volunteer must raise his/her own funds (www.cogmwoa.org).

Tentmakers - World Missions offers special guidance for dedicated, qualified persons who feel led of the Lord to locate and engage in gainful employment in an area of the world that needs a Christian witness. (Christian teachers, businessmen, government workers, and other vocational people.)

Evangelists - Individuals who feel a specific call to evangelism may serve as missionary evangelists after approval by the World Missions Board. He/she will be assisted by the administration in planning an international itinerary in cooperation with the field director and regional superintendent in the targeted areas. Expenses are the responsibility of the evangelist.

VIMM - Volunteers in Medical Missions is an interdenominational Christian organization composed of physicians, dentists, allied health-care professionals, ministers, and others who are interested in using their skills to reach the lost for Jesus Christ.
